    Super Book!!!

UNC Press has hit a home run.  HOLY SMOKE "The Big Book of North Carolina

Barbeque"  is MUST repeat MUST reading for all Tarheels.  As a Durham native

who married a Lexington area "Carolina" coed I can vouch for it's authenticity

and humor in telling the story.

The county library in Columbia, SC  bought a copy for its collection when

I asked them to offset the "mustard" culture of central SC.

Bob Garner was telling me about this book and he pretty much said the same thing. I need to get a copy of it.

    Re: Super Book!!!

    I totally agree!!!

If you want to know ANYTHING about NC Q - you MUST read "Holy Smoke"!!!

MUCH better than either of Bob Garner's books or Jim Early's book on the subject of NC Q!!!!!!!!

If there are any other books out there on NC barbecue I sure would be beholding to anyone identifying them!!!

    Re: Super Book!!!

I found another book devoted to Q-joints in North Carolina:

"Kent's Carolina Barbecue Book:  Carolina barbecue restaurant reviews, recipes, history, culture, more"  By H. Kent Craig.

You probably recognize Kent as he had a GREAT website devoted to NC Q-joints for about 11 years.  He has rolled that website into a book and it is really interesting and good.  I don't totally agree with ALL of his reviews, but that is just a matter of taste and opinion.  That is exactly why I am doing my own research and quest to find the best barbecue in North Carolina!
